Description
Here it is! The first of (hopefully) two entries into the January contest for !
The theme is the Chinese New Year, and since 2014 is the year of the horse, I wanted to do something with horses. After kicking around the internet for ideas, I came across this pattern for a horse. Since I've been wanting to learn double knitting for a while, I figured this would be a good idea.
However, I didn't want to create something with only horses, so I decided to try designing a flower to include in the middle. Since I've seen flowers in some of the beautiful creations that are part of the celebrations, I took a look at some of the flowers held dear to this amazing culture. I had originally tried to design something that looks like the narcissus, which is one of the lucky flowers, but I'm not sure how well I did with that.
In any case, this isn't bad for a first scarf in this method, right? If you'd like to see some more pictures of the detailing, and the entire scarf lain out, take a look at this entry.
Ah, and I chose red because it's one of the lucky colors associated with the Chinese New Year.
I didn't want to spam my followers with multiple pictures of the same thing.
Update: Yay! I got second place!!
